Delmedigo, Joseph Solomon ben Elijah (Medigo, Joseph Solomon ben Elijah del)
(1591-1655)
   Cretan rabbi, philosopher, mathematician and astronomer. He studied astronomy and mathe-matics under Galileo at the University of Padua, then travelled widely, visiting Egypt, Turkey, Poland, Germany, Holland and Bohemia. He wrote studies of religious, metaphysical and scientific topics.
